Hello there. Been knitting up a storm without the computer around to distract me. Haven't really finished anything yet... I have so many things on needles it's amazing. I really need to stop casting on for new projects.
I cast on for a poncho for Mom last night. I hope it turns out alright. I don't know if the yarn would do well ripped out. It seems to want to stay in one place. I pulled out the bit I had swatched and it was hard to re-knit.
I went back to Moore's yesterday. And actually refrained from buying anything new. Go me! I got a nice little gift card for $3.22 for being overcharged earlier this week. I was so tempted to go buy a few balls of Sugar n' Cream, but I resisted.
Oh, I finished another block last night for the blanket. Very cute with 4 different coloured stripes. And then I cast on for another with dark red and navy blue skinny stripes.
Off I go to finish packing. I'd actually like to have some time to hunt for a pattern for my tank. Sooo....
I didn't intend that title to be a pun... but I've been complusively shopping @ Moore's. I've been there a grand total of 3 times this week. One of the girls who works there recognises me by my Ohio driver's license.
Yesterday I bought some nifty tweedish yarn in pale grey and white and some wine coloured cotton and some pink verigated cotton. Sugar n' Cream is on sale for 79 cents a ball. Holy shit! And today I went back and bought another colour of the tweed - mignight blue and white and then 5 balls of dark green cotton. I want to make a nice cotton tank. The odd thing is -- I bought less yarn yesterday and paid $3 more. Weird. I think the girl forgot to discount something.
They also are supporters of Project Linus. If you bring in a blanket any time during October, you get 10% off your purchase. Yippee. I can use up some of the stash and then get more! Sounds like a plan to me. I don't know how many I can drop off and get the discount with, but even if I only get the discount once, I'll make several blankets. They don't take long (when you're a freak like me...)
I would like to post pictures of all the nifty new things I've purchased, but I'm lazy.
I cast on this morning for Mom's secret project XMAS number one. I don't know what else to call it. It's just a simple scarf made from boa yarn, but I know she'll really like it. I am really liking the boa yarn. I didn't think I would, but it's really nice looking knit up. Everyone at work finds it really odd that I sit and knit and talk to people during our brakes. XD
I have a button for this site somewhere. Aha! Found it.
Can't figure out how to actually make the image show up in the body. You think it'd be easy since it's already uploaded. Whatever, I'm probably just not doing it right. But, thanks to Shannon for making it look so pretty!!
I went to Moore's today. I was really in need of something away from either of our houses, so I bought some yarn. They were having a good sale, which seems to happen farily often. They got in a lot of new, very good stuff. I saw a lot of things I liked, but I need to just stop buying yarn without having projects to work on. *nods*
I bought two skeins of pale pink cotton. I'm going to make another bathing suit. I think the colour will look good on me. And then I'll use any leftovers for washclothes. They had some other Suagr and Cream on sale, but it wasn't that great of a price. I might check back next weekend. I also got some boa yarn in a combo of blues and greens. I'm going to make a scarf for mom out of it. I might pop back in sometime this week and get some more since it's a good price. I can just make a bunch of scarves for Xmas.
I realised while I was moving how much yarn I have. I have an entire closet full @ Tennyson. :) I can't wait to have time to knit more. It will be nice. I want to finish my blockie blankie sometime soon. *crosses fingers* I found a great pattern for that wonderful Katia yarn I bought a while ago. I'm still looking for something to do with the nubbie blue yarn. I was thinking of making a poncho or a shawl for mom. I swatched it and it looks great knit up. Yey!
Since we were without cable and internet all day yesterday (ie, my only day off), I knit like a crazy woman. I worked on the 4x4 scarf that I started during the last Superbowl. It's still in scarf limbo: that awful place where I can spend hours knitting and when I put it away, it looks exactly the same. I can't tell if I'm making progress or not. I mean, I should have, I knit the entire time I was watching "When Harry Met Sally." Maybe it's just because I've been working on such tiny pieces lately.
I finished my 8th square for the blockie blankie. I have another almost finished. I didn't cast on for another when I finished the camel coloured square. I wasn't sure if I should add a new colour in or not. I know I'll end up adding more, but how many more. I guess it doesn't really matter since the placement is going to be totally random. I do need to make sure I knit an even amount of solids and stripes, but that's something I'll have to worry about much later... as well as how to best sew all these pieces together. I'm not even going to start looking for ways to do it. Once I do, I'll be tempted to start sewing. I'd actually like to finish ALL the knitting before I dive into the sewing. I'm guessing this will be done by 2015.
I'm almost done with Nick's super-soft dark grey scarf. I should have it done sometime this week. And then wrap her up and mail her back to Ohio.
I bought some new yarn this afternoon at Moore's. I'm not quite sure what I wasn to make with the Katia, but the blue is going to be something for my mom. Possibly a shawl or shrug. Not sure yet. I'd love to make a tank with the Katia, but I haven't seen any pattern that is simple or caught my eye.
Also, here is a photo of the mobile phone case I made the other night. The photo doesn't show the detail too well.
